Arvind Kejriwal Out Of PM Race? AAP Leader’s Contradictory Remarks Ahead Of INDIA Meet

New Delhi: Ahead of INDIA’s Mumbai meet, members of the Aam Aadmi Party have been pushing for Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to be a candidate for Prime Minister.

However, the leaders have made contradictory statements regarding Kejriwal’s candidacy.

Delhi Minister Gopal Rai and AAP Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar have pushed for Kejriwal as a candidate for PM. However, on the same day, AAP Leader Atishi stated that the Delhi CM is out of the race for PM.

“Every party wants their leader to be the PM candidate. Aam Aadmi Party also wants Arvind Kejriwal to be the PM candidate but the INDIA alliance will decide who will be the PM candidate,” stated the Delhi Minister.

Meanwhile, AAP Spokesperson Priyanka Khattar is also pushing for Kejriwal to become a candidate for Prime Minister. Speaking to news agency ANI, the spokesperson said – “If you ask me, I would want Arvind Kejriwal to be the Prime Ministerial candidate (of the Opposition alliance).”

The spokesperson further added that Kejriwal is a credible challenger to Narendra Modi, who is serving his second term as Prime Minister of India.

“Be it the PM’s academic records or qualifications or any other issue, Arvind Kejriwal has been putting across his views boldly on myriad subjects,” stated Kakkar.

However, AAP’s Atishi has refuted her comments. While speaking to reporters, Atishi shared that Priyanka Kakkar’s statements are personal and that Arvind Kejriwal is not in the race for PM’s post

“This might be the personal opinion of the chief spokesperson. But Arvind Kejriwal is not at all a part of the PM race. AAP is a part of INDIA alliance because India needs to be saved today. The country, its constitution, and its democracy need to be saved…I officially say that Arvind Kejriwal is not a candidate for the PM post,” Atishi told news agency ANI.

The INDIA alliance is set to meet in Mumbai on August 31 and September 1, 2023. During this meeting, a joint agenda, the alliance’s logo, and a potential list of PM candidates are expected to be unveiled.
