Bollywood actress-wife Anushka Sharma became a pillar of support to her husband-cricketer Virat Kohli at a special event in New Delhi on Thursday. The couple attended the special tribute to former finance minister Arun Jaitely during DDCA Annual Honours 2019.
At the function, the Feroz Shah Kotla was renamed as the Arun Jaitley stadium and a special stand was renamed after Virat Kohli. Anushka was seen sitting next to Kohli throughout the evening and was seen getting emotional about an incident from her husband’s past.
During the event, the DDCA president Rajat Sharma recalled how Arun Jaitley had praised Virat’s resolve, when he went to play a match for the country even after his father’s death. Jaitley believed that one day, no one would be bigger than Virat when it came to cricket.
On the mention of the cricketer’s late father, the teary-eyed couple were spotted supporting each other by tightly holding hands. She was also seen giving a peck on his hand during the function.
Anushka wore a traditional purple ensemble paired with a matching golden border dupatta. Virat was seen in a Nehru jacket that he paired with a white shirt and dark trousers.
On Friday, Virat shared a few pictures from the event and thanked everyone for this honour.
He wrote: “Thank you @ddcacricketofficial and @indiancricketteam for bestowing this honour upon me. The pavilion will remind me of my journey in life and in cricket but most importantly I hope it will serve as an inspiration for the next generation of young cricketers of our nation”.
