Patiala, Taking strong exception to state party chief Partap Bajwa saying disciplinary action would be taken against him, Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh today questioned his locus standi on the issue.
“This is viciously wishful thinking of someone who knows his countdown has begun to divert the public attention from his own repeated failures”, Capt Amarinder remarked adding, “this was Bajwa’s desperate bid to bully down all those MLAs and leaders who were publicly seeking his removal”.
He was reacting to a news item quoting Bajwa wherein he had stated without directyly mentioning the name of Capt Amarinder Singh that strong disciplinary action would be taken against the one one person who was repeatedly trying to disrupt the party. the hint was too obvious.
Taking a jibe at Bajwa for saying there was nothing wrong in the party, the former Chief Minister said, “Indeed there is nothing wrong in the party as long as you are heading it and losing one election after another on the one hand and getting people expelled at the same time and things go wrong only the moment someone questions you”.
Lashing out at Bajwa for the state of ruin the Congress was today in Punjab, Capt Amarinder said, right since the day he took over, the party had seen a progressive decline in the state with no hope of revival or redemption as long as he remained there.
He observed, despite strong anti-incumbency in Punjab against the ruling Akali-BJP government, Bajwa failed to capitalise on it during the parliamentary elections with the benefit going to the Aam Aadmi Party. “So much so not only did he himself badly lose Gurdaspur, but also his home turf of Qadian”, he pointed out, adding Bajwa had been trying to find fault with others since then.
