Chandigarh, October 6: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has extended warm greetings to people, especially Sikhs, across the world on the auspicious occasion of the 484th Parkash Utsav of the fourth Sikh Guru Sri Guru Ramdas ji.
The life and philosophy of Sri Guru Ramdas ji would always be a beacon guiding people towards righteousness, selfless service, humility and compassion, said the chief minister in a message, describing Guru Sahib as a paragon of love, devotion and service.
Let us celebrate this auspicious day in a spirit of brotherhood and amity, the chief minister exhorted people.
Sri Guru Ramdas ji laid the foundation stone of Chak Ramdas or Ramdas Pur, which is now called Amritsar. He wrote 638 hymns in 30 ragas, including 246 Padei, 138 Saloks, 31 Ashtpadis and 8 Vars, which are a part of Sri Guru Granth Sahib – the holy text of Sikhs and a supreme treasure of eternal peace and universal brotherhood.
