Toronto: July 19, 2016 – Etobicoke residents are invited to a free movie screening of the popular and family-friendly LEGO Movie on Friday, July 29 at Centennial Park.
The free event will feature a pre-show at 7:30 pm with live music by Rockadoodle Duo, games for kids and more. The screening which begins at 9 pm on the ski hill is hosted by Our Place Initiative (OPI) – Friends of Centennial Park, Park People and the City of Toronto. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket and snacks.
The LEGO Movie is an animated adventure comedy film that tells the story of an ordinary Lego minifigure that takes up a fight against a tyrannical businessman who plots to glue everything in the Lego worlds together. The film is appropriate for all ages.
“Centennial Park is a great destination for events that promote community building and civic engagement in Etobicoke,” says Sarbjit Kaur, Executive Director of OPI. “We’re proud to be co-hosting this fun and free family event as part of our ongoing efforts to bring people together.”
The OPI – FOCP group was created earlier this year to enable local residents to support park revitalization and other projects to help maintain and improve Etobicoke’s largest park.
“Our group has enjoyed supporting Centennial Park by organizing park clean-ups, yoga in the park and nature walks,” says Matthew Siwiec of OPI – Friends of Centennial Park. “We love helping people rediscover this dynamic local space.”
Photos of Centennial Park will be presented on the big screen before the movie begins at 9 pm. All are invited to send in their favourite park photos and enter a draw to win fantastic prizes! For more information, email info@ourplaceinitative.com or visit www.ourplaceinitiative.com.
