Chandigarh: 26 March: The busses belonging to the ruling Badal Family and the leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal Badal should be taken off from the roads immediately. Requesting the Hon’ Punjab Haryana High Court to kindly intervene and take some stringent measures after the number of incidents of deaths have multiplied in the last few years, S Charanjit Singh Channi, Leader of Opposition today said that these are killer machines plying on the roads of Punjab. The Hon’ courts should take suo motto of the widely printed reports of the media in the last years and ban these killer machines immediately. Channi said that yesterday only Surinder Singh of Hussainpur Guru Ka Village was killed by the Mercedes bus of the Badal Family near Dallewal in Hoshiarpur. Similar incident was reported in Jalandhar also where the staff of the bus belonging to the ruling family resorted to the stone pelting at the bus of other transport company and even later threatening the media correspondent who was covering the incident. In both the incidents the police is now pressuring the victims to reach compromise or to withdraw their complaints.
Channi said that there is complete jungle raj in the state. The police is acting as a puppet in the hands of their political bosses, thus the common man is killed after every two days by the busses of the ruling family and the leaders of the Shiromani akali Dal Badal. Already there have been incidents where these people have gone scott free after settlement of the cases and threatening the victims and their families. Moga bus tragedy is such a classic example where two witnesses have already backtracked before the court. The witnesses have failed to identify the accused staff on board of the orbit bus company. Channi said that further a young girl was killed in Channu in Lambi by Deep Transport, A young was killed in Faridkot also by the bus od Deep transport, a scooterist was killed near Behrampur near Ropar toll plaza by the Orbit Transport bus and so on.
Channi demanded an inquiry into the growing transport business of the ruling Badal Family. Why the transport business of the Badal Family is flourishing while the state transport in running in losses day by day. The Badal Family has enormous fleet of high-end luxury buses while the state transport is crying for its existence. The number of the routes, which are given to the transport of Badal Family, should also be inquired as they are causing huge losses to the state transport department.
