ALL CIVIL SURGEONS ASKED TO UPDATE DAILY ACTIVITIES ON HEALTH WEBSITE

Chandigarh July 18: The Punjab health department has launched a well defined campaign to make people aware of the health facilities being provided to them by the Punjab Government.

Addressing a meeting of the officers of the Health department and the representatives of the PGI Chandigarh focused on strengthening IEC and BCC wings of the department, Principal Secretary Health, Mrs. Vini Mahajan has instructed all the civil surgeons to upload the latest information and activities of their respective districts on the Health department website so that it was accecible to millions of people with a single click on computers.

Mrs. Mahajan also asked the Civil Surgeons to ensure proper Signages to easily locate the hospitals besides ensuring adequate coverage of health related issues and events.She suggested initiating precise and crisp wall writings to catch immediate attenstion of the public and also good readable printed material in form of pamphlets and posters for distribution purposes. Copies of IEC calendars must be made available up to grassroot level workers, she added.

Adding further, Mrs. Mahajan also asked the district health officers toensure that all LED TVs are installed in Hospitals must be monitored regularly so that the health messages being played can be easily understood even by a layman.Reports of all activities must be sent regularly to the state headquarters so that these may be reviewed and uploaded on social media.Schools can also be involved for awareness regarding common health issues like malaria, dengue, water borne diseases and hygiene etc, she said.

The senior faculty members, Prof Rajesh Kumar, Prof. J.S.Thakur and Prof. Manmeet suggested a complete training schedule for the ANMs and ASHA workers because they have the maximum interaction with the public. These workers should be made familiar with the latest updates on health related issues, they suggested.
