Chennai, Saeed Ajmal may soon receive the clearance to bowl in international cricket again. The Pakistani off-spinner was here recently to undergo testing after his action was found to be well beyond the 15 degree flexion rule.
The Pakistani spin bowling spearhead sent down 30 deliveries of five varieties with a side-on release — he was chest-on earlier — at the bio-mechanical centre in the SRMC Sports Medicine Centre.
Although the coaches and the authorities at SMRC refused to confirm the news — the reports and the video clips of his action were sent to the ICC — it is learnt from a source close to the ICC that Ajmal might get the nod shortly.
The details of the reports are awaited and it remains to be seen if Ajmal’s contentious doosra and the faster one have passed muster.
It might be difficult for the 37-year-old Ajmal to make the ICC ODI World Cup team since someone from the squad has to be injured and ruled out of the competition for him to be drafted in.
