AAP volunteer moves women panel against Kumar Vishwas

downloadNew Delhi, In a fresh trouble for the Aam Aadmi Party, a party volunteer has approached the Delhi Commission for Women against leader Kumar Vishwas with charges of not rebutting “rumours” about illicit relations with her and ruining her reputation.
The DCW has summoned Vishwas, considered close to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and his wife, asking them to appear before it tomorrow after the volunteer approached it seeking its intervention in forcing the AAP leader to dispel the allegations.
“It is a complaint of defamation, mental and social harassment and threat. The complainant has stated that when she asked Kumar Vishwas to clarify the whole issue she was threatened. She was told that she would meet the same fate as Santosh Koli (whose death due to a road accident is speculated to be a murder). We have summoned him tomorrow,” DCW Chairperson Barkha Shukla said.
The complainant, a mother of two, alleged that rumours of Vishwas having an illicit relationship with her had ruined her reputation and family. The woman, who claimed to have campaigned for Vishwas in Amethi in 2014 Lok Sabha elections, said she had also written separate letters to Kejriwal and Police Commissioner BS Bassi on the issue but neither of them have responded. “If need be, we’ll take up the matter with the police on the delay,” Shukla said.
Rejecting all allegations, Vishwas said: “These allegations are totally baseless. This is a conspiracy by the BJP and several media channels to defame me… I have sent a defamation notice to a media house for running a cooked up story.”
Defending Vishwas, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh said: “Nowhere in the complaint the woman has accused Vishwas of any illicit affair. In her complaint to the Delhi Police on March 31, she had named four persons, including a BJP spokesperson, accusing them of maligning her image on social media. After nothing came out, she made a complaint to the woman commission. But the media is using it against the AAP.”
Singh advised the media to refrain from targeting the party without evidence and to spare family members of party leaders. The opposition parties condemned the party saying the AAP stands exposed with the episode.
