Chandigarh, March 20
The 15th session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha began here on Tuesday with the Governor’s address.
While SAD-BJP MLAs stayed away, 16 Aam Aadmi Party MLAs led by Sukhpal Khaira were present.
Khaira, along with party MLAs, staged a walkout during Governor’s address over the drugs issue. The Bains brothers of the Lok Insaaf Party joined the AAP MLAs in the walkout.
Later, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh said he had not seen the STF report on Bikram Majithia and that the matter is in the high court.
He said he was shattered to hear that the 39 Indians missing in Iraq, most of them Punjabis, were dead. “My heart goes out to the families who had been living in hope since their reported kidnapping by ISIS in 2014. My prayers are with them,” he said.
The CM said the walkout by the AAP during the Governor’s address was unfortunate.
