The MLAs of Aam Aadmi Party and Lok Insaaf Party on Friday submitted a memorandum to the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab at Punjab Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh demanding immediate removal of cabinet minister Rana Gurjit Singh. The leader of opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Adv. H.S. Phoolka, AAP state president, Bhagwant Mann, Co-President Aman Arora, Chief Whip, Sukhpal Khaira and Simarjeet Singh Bains led the delegation.
The MLA appealed the governor to intervene in the ongoing land mining controversy erupted after involvement of Punjab cabinet minister Rana Gurjit Singh. They said that since the formation of the government of Punjab led by Capt. Amarinder Singh, the Government has been mired by controversies on day to day basis. The recent E-auctions of sand mining of Punjab have revealed the involvement of Rana Gurjit Singh minister of Irrigation and Power, deeply involved in multi crore sand mining through Benami transactions.
The MLAs said that the decision of the Punjab government setting up a one man retired High Court Judge Commission with tailor made terms of reference clearly show that there is a clear cut attempt by the present government to help his minister who is knee deep in the controversy. His ex-employees who have deep nexus with him and his business houses are acting as his front men to gain financially by abusing his position. They demanded that the inquiry in this regard must be done by the sitting judge of High Court.
The MLAs said that AAP and LOP alliance being main opposition have the duty to raise the voice against the corrupt practices of the government. They demanded that Rana Gurjit Singh should be dismissed from the cabinet with immediate effect.
