A law needed to discipline the judges also – Tulsi

Chandigarh, Senior Supreme Court lawyer and Member Rajya Sabha, K.T.S. Tulsi has said that men are too unstable to be just and since the judges are also human, they are liable to err. Reading out his presidential address at the 5th. Annual convocation of Army Institute of Law, Tulsi added that the institution of law is dominated by the judges who are diffident enough to analyze their judgement. Therefore, the eminent legal luminary stressed upon the need for a mechanism to discipline the judges also. Describing the sanctity of legal profession he said that its history dates back to remote past when it was managed by the clergy the robes of which are still being donned in the courts. A small pocket at the back of the robe was symbolic of the wisdom that this is no profession to mint money only. He urged the fledgling lawyers to strive for excellence only and the money will follow on its own. The success of a lawyer, Tulsi said should reflect from the grateful eyes of the client. Lt. Gen. V. Menon, Chief of Staff Western Command, also delivered some valuable tips to the degree awardees exhorting them to see that they make a difference through their upright legal practice. Others who addressed the audience of convocation included Ashok Aggarwal, the Advocate General Punjab.
