Chandigarh, The Chandigarh Mayor would be elected on January 5 next. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shayan has rejected the BJP demand to pre-pone the election.
Earlier, this election used to be conducted onJanuary 1. The only exception was 2007 when the election was held on January 11.
The BJP wanted the election to be held around December 22 or 23 this time. Party MP Kirron Kher had also written to Advisor KK Sharma in this regard.
