Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
Khuralgarh (Hoshiarpur), Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal said here today that the construction of the Guru Ravidass memorial, Minar-e-Begumpura, would be completed soon. Addressing a gathering at the state-level function to mark Guru Ravidass’ birth anniversary, Manpreet announced a grant of Rs 10 lakh for the Khuralgarh village panchayat for development works.
The minister said he had proposed to the Centre that Kandi and border areas should be covered under the Border Area Development Scheme and the National Agriculture Development Scheme so as to expedite their development. He said the state government would provide subsidy of Rs 50 crore to farmers for the protection of their crops from wild animals.
Manpreet stated that 265 tubewells would be installed to provide water for irrigation in Kandi areas spread over 13 Assembly constituencies.
Those present included MLAs Dr Raj Kumar, Pawan Kumar Adia, Sangat Singh Gilzian, Sunder Sham Arora, Rajneesh Kumar Babbi, Arun Dogra, Santokh Singh Bhalaipur, Punjab Youth Congress president Amarpreet Singh Lalli and Congress spokesperson Nimisha Mehta.
