DSGMC LAMBASTS PUNJAB GOVERNMENT; IGNORING GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI ON STATE LEVEL PRASKASH PURAB FUNCTION A GRAVE SIN

New Delhi, December 28 : The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has lambasted the Punjab Government for failure to do prakash of Guru Granth Sahib ji in the state level function to celebrate Prakash Purab of Guru Gobind Singh held at Anandpur Sahib and has demanded immediate apology from the Punjab Chief Minister.

In a statement released here today, the DSGMC General Secretary Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that it was grave sin to not do prakash of Guru Granth Sahib in a function of Gurpurab celebration. He said that it was more surprising that the Punjab Government has committed this blunder on the birth anniversary of that Guru who had told the sikh fold that Guru Granth Sahib will be Guru of the sikh sangat and every sikh had to abide by the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib ji. He said that never in the history of mankind such a function of Gurpurab has took place where the organizers failed to do prakash of Guru Granth Sahib ji.

Mr. Sirsa said that this act of the Punjab government has hurt the sentiments of the Sikhs settled world over. He said that the gravest of sin has been committed but ironically no government official took the responsibility of this lapse which appears to be a deliberate attempt by the government. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh should immediately tender an apology for this sin committed by his government.

He also reminded the Punjab Chief Minister that Bihar Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar has set a great precedent by celebrating Gurpurab of Guru Gobind Singh at a large scale and people world over are admiring him for this geture. He said that a person who is non sikh by religion even understands the great value of Guru Sahib ji. He said that at every place in the world people do understand that prakash of Guru Granth Sahib ji was must for celebrating Gurpurab but it was most unfortunate that Punjab Government has completely ignored the very basics of the sikh religion.

The DSGMC General Secretary also said that the action of the Congress government appears to be inline with the policy of the Congress party which always works against the Punjab particularly the Sikh community. He also said that it was also shameful that after failure to do prakash of the Guru Granth Sahib ji now the government has decided to put the martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji in restricted holidays list. He wondered if the government was pursuing agenda against the Sikhs. He also criticized shifting of days of martyrdom of different freedom fighters including Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha and others in restricted holidays list.
