Chandigarh, Sukhbir Badal’s raids to check absenteeism, nothing but a political gimmickry to refurbish his devastated public image. He is advised to practise what he is trying to preach said Ex Mla Sukhpal Singh Khaira.
In a press statement Mr Sukhpal Khaira said that Yesterday’s surprise raid conducted by the junior Badal at the police headquarters Chandigarh, to check the presence of top brass of the police was nothing, but a political gimmickry and one of his routine cheap political stunts. The whole aim of this exercise was to rebuild the devastated image of the junior Badal, known in political circles for a very laid back, casual, lazy and feudal working.
The junior Badal may have caught 14 top cops including DGP Mr. Saini DGP, either absent or late, the question is what action will be taken against these erring officers? On earlier occasions too, Mr. Badal CM accompanied by the Chief Secretary has raided many government offices and nabbed absentees or late comers, but no concrete action has been taken against them, which only shows that these are futile exercises aimed to revive the lost political graph of the Badals. No officer has been suspended, chargesheeted or proceeded against by any departmental inquiry etc., to make them accountable, then what is the purpose of these raids? he added
The DGP Mr. Saini when found absent from office yesterday, offered a lame excuse that he was in a meeting with the representatives of the Divya Jyoti Sansthan, Nurmahal, to carry out the orders of the high court. What are offices meant for, if officers have to carry out official work from their cozy homes?
The other day a national media house conducted a surprise visit to the Civil Secretariat at Chandigarh on Monday, to find 8 cabinet Ministers including Sukhbir Badal and 4 CPS missing from their respective offices, for days and weeks together. This lapse was noticed after a strong directive issued to the Ministers by Mr. Badal CM, to remain present in their offices for the first three days of the week, i.e. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Who will take action against the absenteeism of the junior Badal and the Ministers? he added
It appears that the senior official machinery of the state including the Secretary and Deputy Commissioner level officers, have not deemed it fit to adopt the modus oprendi of the Badal duo, to check the menace of absenteeism. This is a clear lack of confidence amongst the babudom in the Badals. he said
Therefore, Congress urges the Badal duo particularly the junior Badal not to indulge in political gimmickry to earn brownie points. The menace of absenteeism and callous working is the order of the day at the district, block and tehsil levels, because there is no fear of the law or the Badal government. Thus the junior Badal is advised to first set his and his Ministers house in order on the matter and implement the famous quote “practice what you preach”, only then there can be desired results. he added
