Chandigarh, Under second phase of Virasat-e-Khalsa the construction work of four new galleries is under progress and the work would be completed till June 2015. These galleries would exhibit the Sikh history from the time of inception of Sri Guru Granth Sahib to the regime of Maharaja Ranjit Singh upto the year 1848.
It was disclosed by Mr. Sohan Singh Thandal, Tourism & Cutural Affairs Minister who was here today to inspect the construction work of the second phase of Virasat-e- Khalsa. He said that these four galleries would be dedicated to the public in the month of June 2015 when the 350th foundation of Sri Anandpur Sahib would be in progress. He said that it is on the top of agenda of the Punjab Government to promote Sri Aanadpur Sahib a tourist hub. “A committee comprised of three cabinet minister of Punjab has been constituted to explore possibilities of tourism in this area” said Mr. Thandal. He said that in this committee besides he himself, Mr. Madan Mohan Mittal, Industry Minister and Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, Education Minister have been included.
Mr. Thandal Further said that for the setting up of Bhai Jaita Ji memorial, The Punjab Government has already acquired 5 acres of land and if need be more land be procured for this purpose. He disclosed that to facilitate the tourists visiting Sri Anandpur Sahib, a Reception Centre would soon set up near Panj Piyara Park. He said that the estimated cost of this project would be Rs. 20 lakh. Speaking on the issue of the much talked about three stars Ashoka Hotel; He said that the principal Secretary of tourism department, Ms. Anjali Bhawra has recently toured this area to explore possibility of such hotel. He said that the Punjab government would provide all possible help for the setting up hotel in this area.
