Srikanth pips Prannoy to enter final, Sindhu out

Paris, October 29
Kidambi Srikanth bounced back to win (14-21 21-19 21-18) a three-setter against HS Prannoy and enter the men’s singles final but PV Sindhu crashed out of the women’s singles at the $325,000 French Open Super Series.
Srikanth now has taken a 3-1 lead in the head-to-head statistics against Prannoy. Srikanth took the first point of the match but Prannoy bounced back to take a 9-7 lead in the first game. However, the Guntur shuttler quickly brought things level at 10-10. Prannoy then took a 17-13 lead and pocketed the first game.
In the second game, Prannoy took a slender 11-10 lead at the breather. But Srikanth managed to come back and dominate things to clinch the second game.
In the third game, Prannoy had an 11-10 advantage but he failed to maintain it, giving away easy points to Srikanth, who capitalised on the situation and clinched the match.
Sindhu misfires
PV Sindhu had a below-par outing as Japan’s Akene Yamaguchi beat the World Championships silver medallist 21-14 21-9 in a thoroughly one-sided semifinal. It took fifth seed Yamaguchi only 37 minutes to blow away the Indian challenge in their semifinal clash.
