VIGILANCE NABS ASI TAKING BRIBE OF RS. 10,000

Chandigarh, October 6 : State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption today nabbed ASI Tarsem Chand red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 10,000.

Disclosing this here an official spokesman of the Vigilance Bureau said ASI Tarsem Chand posted at Police Post Ajit Singh Nagar, Police Station Sangrur City was nabbed red handed on the complaint of Ram Parkash Singh of village Khanpur Fakiran, district Sangrur. The Complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused ASI had already taken Rs 15,000 in two instalments to help him in a police case for getting a compromise and was demanding Rs. 10,000 more in this case.

After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused ASI was arrested on the spot taking bribe of Rs. 3,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against him at VB police station Patiala and further investigation was under progress.
