New Delhi, September 26
Rio Olympics silver medallist PV Sindhu has been recommended for the prestigious Padma Bhushan, the country’s third highest civilian award, by the Sports Ministry today.
“Yes, we have recommended Sindhu for Padma Bhushan,” a Sports Ministry official said. Last week, shuttler Sindhu reclaimed the world No. 2 ranking following a good week at Seoul. In March 2015, Sindhu was awarded India’s fourth highest civilian honour, the Padma Shri. Sindhu thanked the Sports Ministry for the Padma Bhushan nomination. “I am happy and thank the Sports Ministry for recommending my name,” said Sindhu.
