Congess government proved good for nothing: Sukhbir

Khadoor Sahib/10 September/Shiromani Akali Dal President S. Sukhbir Singh Badal today said that the Congress government had done nothing in terms of performance in the last six months other than putting an end to all development works and social welfare schemes initiated by the previous SAD-BJP government.

Addressing a conference after paying obeisance on the auspicious occasion of Gurgaddi Divas of Shri Guru Angad Dev ji , the SAD President said that Punjab had always experienced unprecedented prosperity and development whenever the S. Parkash Singh Badal government held the reins of the state. He said that all the historical cities of the state had been renovated with state of the art facilities only during the regime of the SAD-BJP government.

Condemning the Congress Government for its anti-development and anti-people policies, S. Badal said that the Congress Government’s only agenda seems to be putting a halt to all the development projects as well as social welfare benefits started by the SAD-BJP government. He said that the old age pension had not been released since January this year. It had also stopped disbursing the Shagun scheme. “Name any social welfare scheme initiated by Badal Sahib, be it 200 units of free electricity to SC families, free bicycles to girls, scholarships for SC students, free health insurance for farmers, all schemes have been abandoned by this good for nothing Congress government,” he added.

Speaking on this occasion, former Minister and SAD General Secretary, Bikram Singh Majithia said that the six month regime of the present Congress government has been proven a regime of lies and deceit. All the poll promises made during elections have not been implemented. He said that it is the first time in the history of the state that the people got disillusioned of a government within six months of its formation.

Earlier senior SAD leader Ranjit Singh Barahpura and other proiment leaders also spoke on the occasion.
