Chandigarh, August 30
The rejection of Vigilance Bureau’s cancellation report in the Amritsar Improvement Trust land scam case involving CM Capt Amarinder Singh by the Mohali special court judge calls for an impartial and transparent trial, said Leader of the Opposition Sukhpal Khaira.
The CM should either quit or transfer the case to the CBI. He told the media Amarinder continued to be the CM with the charge of Home Department controlling the prosecution as well as the Vigilance Bureau.
Rana Gurjit flays AAP leader
Reacting to Khaira’s statement, Irrigation and Power Minister Rana Gurjit Singh lashed out at him for his “political opportunism and cheap publicity gimmicks wherein he has been questioning the due legal process”.
“Khaira suffers from selective amnesia as not very long ago he was singing paeans to Amarinder to the extent describing him as a ‘saint statesman’,” added Rana.
