High of 14 C today, but cold Arctic front will bring winter back tonight

Toronto, The mercury is rising on this unusually warm November day, but Toronto remains under a special weather statement warning of high winds and rapidly plunging temperatures.

A high of 14 C with showers is in Environment Canada’s forecast for today, but the weather agency says a “sharp Arctic cold front will blast” across Southern and Eastern Ontario to bring winter back by Tuesday.

Wind warnings are in effect for some regions near the Great Lakes. Gusts of 80 to 90 kilometres per hour and below-freezing temperatures could be expected.

The strong winds will make it difficult to drive especially on highways, Environment Canada said in its special weather statement.
The return of cooler air will result in flurries and snow squalls over Lake Huron and Georgian Bay on Tuesday.
