Chandigarh, State AAP convener Bhagwant Mann today alleged that they already knew of a deal between the Congress and the Akali Dal. “It is only that CM Capt Amarinder Singh has admitted it now by saying that he won’t indulge in vendetta politics,” he claimed. Reacting to The Tribune report wherein the CM has said that he doesn’t want to indulge in witch hunting and rather concentrate on rebuilding Punjab, Mann alleged it was clear the CM was repaying the Akali leadership for “settling” his (Amarinder’s) Amritsar Improvement Trust case just before the elections. “Isn’t it strange that the Congress ministers and MLAs are baying for the Akalis’ blood, but the CM says he does not want to witch hunt? This means that Amarinder has forgotten the promises made to the people of crackdown on illicit drug trade and sand and cable mafia. The only promise he remembers is what he made to the Badals of not unearthing the corruption they indulged in during their tenure,” said Mann. The Sangrur MP said because of this quid pro quo arrangement between the Congress and the SAD-BJP, the only party left to play the role of constructive Opposition was AAP. “We will seek action against corrupt politicians and take the matter to the people’s court,” he added.
