Hoshiarpur,The Dal Khalsa has slammed the Jathedar Akal Takht for creating further confusion on the Parkash day of Tenth Master Guru Gobind Singh by fixing Jan 7 for this year and not considering Jan 5, the date which was fixed as per original Nanakshahi calendar.
Party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh, Dr Manjinder Singh and Ranbir Singh in a statement said instead of bringing uniformity within the Panth, Gaini Gurbachan Singh has created further confusion.
Why not Jan 5 instead of 7, they questioned the jathedar reiterating that amendment to the original calendar has killed letter and spirit of the calendar, which was manifestation of separate identity of the Sikhs.
Notably, according to original calendar formed on March 14, 2003, gurpurab of Guru Gobind Singh was fixed for Jan 5.
They appealed to Jathedar Akal Takht and head of the SGPC to revert back to original calendar to end divisions within Panth and not to become part of divisive politics of the Akali Dal- their appointing authority.
On the simmering discontent between the Akali Dal and the BJP, they were of the view that the alliance was neither of any help to the community nor there would be any loss in case it breaks up.
Commenting on BJP leaders doing Badal-bashing, they said Badals were reaping what they had sowed. “Badals don’t deserve political sympathy. They had ditched the Sikhs to enjoy power and that too at the cost of the Sikh interests and aspirations”.
Urging the Sikhs not to associate themselves with RSS and its offshoots, the Dal Khalsa leadership said after taking the seat of power at Delhi they have changed their strategy, surcharged the atmosphere with their fanatic ideology and have adopted power politics to fulfill their agenda of making India a Hindu rashtra. They do not follow a fair policy with respect to minorities, instead are hell-bent to exploit its might and suppressive policy against the people, who are struggling for their nationhood.
Stating that the people who matters in the RSS-BJP were hell bent to make inroads into Sikh population, they warned splinter Akali groups and individuals not to fall prey into the trap of the RSS. In case, anyone from Panthic fold shake hands with saffron forces, like Badals they too would backstab the cause of Sikh freedom struggle.
Terming Congress, BJP and Akali Dal as chips of the same block, they said we can’t do choice as whose worst and who’s lesser evil.
