Badal reiterated pledge to make holy ‘Kali bein’ completely pollution free

Chandigarh, Reiterating his firm resolve to make the holy ‘Kali Bein’ completely pollution free, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal has asked his Principal Secretary to personally monitor the ongoing works in Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala and Jalandhar districts for checking the flow of contaminated water in the bein.
Presiding over a high level meeting to review the pace of work for cleaning the ‘Kali Bein’ at his residence late last evening, the Chief Minister asked the officers to expedite the process of work by removing all the bottlenecks in the matter. He asked his Principal Secretary Mr. SK Sandhu to personally monitor the ongoing operations so as to ensure zero discharge of the waste water in this holy bein. Mr. Badal categorically said that this holy bein has a lot of significance in the Sikh history due to which it was highly revered by the people adding that the state government was duty bound to clean it at the earliest.
The Chief Minister also took stock of the progress work of the construction of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) in Bholath, Dasuya, Begowal, Sham Chaurasi, Tanda, Sultanpur Lodhi and Kapurthala towns trough which this bein crosses. Likewise, he also asked the officials of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited to speed up the process of issuing power connections for pumping out the waste water from the village ponds, so as to utilize them for the irrigational purposes. Mr. Badal also asked the Deputy Commissioners of Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala to regularly submit the progress report regarding the ongoing work so that the work could be efficaciously supervised.
Lauding the efforts being made by eminent environmentalist Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal in checking land, water and air pollution, the Chief Minister said that Baba ji has rendered great service to humanity by making stupendous efforts to clean the holy ‘Kali Bein’. On the personal request of Baba Seechewal, he also gave his nod for declaring Jalandhar-Kala Sangian road as a planned road, to ensure its regular maintenance.
