Chandigarh,  The Punjab and Haryana High Court has put Punjab, its Director General of Police, Batala Senior Superintendent of Police and other respondents on notice in a petition alleging a possible kidney scam.
The notice by Justice AB Chaudhari came on a petition by Anjali Kumar through counsel OS Batalvi for taking appropriate legal action following the alleged removal of her husband’s kidney without his consent.
The petitioner alleged that the kidney was removed on the false pretext that there was pus in his kidney along with stone. Referring to reports submitted by PGI Radio Diagnostic Centre prior to the operation, both the kidneys were normal. Only a stone was reported in his right kidney.
Batalvi submitted that there was every possibility of a high- level scam involving the sale of kidneys of poor people either by allurement or by cheating, fraud, deceit and misleading them
“The petitioner craves indulgence of the HC for issuance of directions for strict legal action against such elements by ordering registration of case/FIR against them so that justice should be done not only to the petitioner and her family, but also for the safety of other people like the petitioner and her husband in future,” Batalvi added.
