Srinagar, The star campaigners of Congress have started poll campaign in Jammu and Kashmir with Bollywood star and party’s senior leader Raj Babbar addressing a well-attended election rally in North Kashmir.

Raj Babbar accompanied J&K Pradesh Congress Committee chief Saif-ud-Din Soz to campaign for party candidate in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district. Large number of people, including men and women had gathered in the area to see Raj Babbar and listen his speech.

Young people clicked their selfies with him and others sought his autographs.

While addressing the election rally, Raj Babbar urged people to vote for Congress and party’s candidate for Bandipora seat, Usman Majeed.

“This is the first time I am visiting the place to seek votes for Congress. Earlier I used to visit Valley for shooting of films,” he said.

“Congress has become vibrant in Kashmir and it was a heartening fact,” he said and appealed people to reject divisive politics of BJP and its parent organization RSS

Babbar said India’s unity and integrity should be of prime concern to all people as RSS was promoting communalism in the country.

Terming RSS as danger to unity and integrity of India, he said, “While Congress believes in philosophy that India’s unity lies in its diversity, RSS believes in negative uniformity which is not possible because it contains an element of discard”.

Appealing people to defeat RSS in its designs, Babbar said he is expecting RSS to draw a blank from Jammu and Kashmir.

He said Congress is the only party that can take on BJP and defeat its communal politics. “People should vote for Congress and by doing so they will be strengthening the India’s unity, brotherhood and justice”.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Rashid Alvi also addressed series of election rallies in Budgam and sought votes for party candidates.

Later, addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Alvi took a dig at J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and accused him of failing on all fronts.

He said ruling NC is facing massive anti-incumbency and people are very angry with Omar government for his failure to deliver and fulfill his promises. “I have toured many areas of Beerwah in central Kashmir, where from Omar will be contesting and I feel he has no chance to win the seat”.

Alvi said Congress will emerge as the single large party in the State and form the next government.

Taking a dig at BJP for demanding abrogation of Article 370, Congress leader said his party has supported the Article as it is an important part of Indian constitution.

He also appealed J&K people to reject divisive and communal politics of BJP.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi, vice president Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders are also expected to address poll rallies in the State.
