Chandigarh 17 May – Joining issue with the Punjab Cabinet Minister, Mr Navjot Singh Sidhu, The Shiromani Akali Dal urged the Minister to read and understand the letters of Union Government carefully before releasing them to the press.
The party Secretary & Spokesman Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said that Union Minister M.Venkaiah Naidu has written this letter (which was released by Mr Navjot Singh Sidhu to the press) to the state government on 20th April, 2017 requesting the Chief Minister to review the progress of various ongoing missions and sought his cooperation so that further installments of funds could be released.
But it is surprising that even after a gap of one month instead of fulfilling the shortcomings mentioned in the letter and getting funds released, the Minister is resorting to cheap political gimmicks to blame the SAD leadership. Dr Cheema further said that the Hon’ble Union Minister has very positively observed that projects are getting delayed due to non release of funds some times by State Government and sometimes by the Union Government. But Mr Sidhu has misled the people by alleging that Rupees 400 crores released by the centre has been embezzled by the previous government. Whereas in reality and as per the contents of this letter, it is very clear that Ludhiana Smart City project is in the initial stage and only Rupees 200 crores were received by the state government . The then Punjab Government released Rupees 32 Crores .The Union Minister’s letter is very clear about the formation of SPV and appointment of project management consultants which was the basic necessity for release of funds.
The SAD expressed that good sense will prevail on Mr. Sidhu and he will understand the reality of the issue as well as his responsibility. He should refrain from playing petty politics and urged him to prepare the required documents as required in the letter of Union Minister and submit them for further release of funds.
