* Nani Chaan campaign brings positive change in sex ratio
Maan (Lambi, Sri Mukatsar Sahib),Union Food Processing Minister Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal today gave a call for collective efforts to ensure human, skill, social and economic development as she initiates Sansad Adrash Gram Yojana (SAGY) from village Maan in her Lok Sabha constituency, pledging villagers to contribute their best for overall development of the village.
Addressing the people of Maan Village, Mrs. Badal stressed upon the need to bring qualitative change in the thinking process. She said that government was doing infrastructural development but the real development could only be achieved if it would accompanied with social development. She said that villagers need to give up the belief that it was the government that was responsible for everything and they were only beneficiaries. “The Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana is an effort in that direction. It aims to empower villagers and provide them with opportunities to implement these choices”, she added.
Mrs. Badal said that under this scheme a number of groups comprising persons of different age groups and sections of society would be formed to implement various government plans. She said that government would take all the decisions regarding developing health facilities, skill development, organic farming, village bazaars etc in the village with the support of villagers. “I am confident that our villagers have the ability to outline their own destiny through their own entrepreneurial skills and hard work”, she added.
Later, replying to media queries, Mrs. Badal said that she decided to chose village Maan for Sansad Gram Yojana as this village has appreciable sex ratio of 1028 females versus 1000 males. She said that the sex ratio of the village Maan depicted the high thinking of the villagers. “‘Nanhi Chaan’ initiative also brings positive change in people mindset. If we compare figures of 2001 with 2011 we can see that people’ attitude for baby child has been changed”, she added.
Replying to another query, Mrs. Badal said that SAD-BJP alliance was the most natural alliance and senior leadership of both parties have already cleared the doubts created by a section of media and Congress party.
Earlier, Mrs. Badal held meetings with Gram Sabha, Baal Sabha and Mahila Sabha of village Maan to discuss their important issues, demands and grievances.
