Rahul’s political career full of photo-ops: BJP

New Delhi: Hitting back at Rahul Gandhi for terming the Swachh Bharat campaign as a photo-op, the BJP said the Congress general secretary is deriding Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a clean India.

BJP leader Nalin Kohli rebuked Rahul by terming his political career as one that is full of photo-ops.

“Rahul Gandhi’s entire political career has been full of photo-ops, traveling in local train, visiting Dalit’s house, tearing ordinance,” he said.

“Leaving aside the goodwill of the name that he has inherited what has been his achievements?” Kohli added.

Speaking at a function organised by the Congress to mark Pt Jawaharlal Nehru’s 125th birth anniversary, Rahul had said those who launched clean India campaign are spreading poison in the society.

BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said, “They are talking of photo-ops, but are forgetting, Modiji is attempting to make a nation of Mahatmaji’s dream- a clean India.”

“The Congress is indulging in the politics of hatred not BJP,” he added.

Hussain also accused the Congress of reducing Nehru into a Congress leader.

“We see Nehruji as nation’s leader, he was freedom fighter, worked as nation’s PM,” he said.

“Congress had reduced Mahatmaji’s birth anniversary to a formality, Modiji connected people to this day by clean India campaign,” Hussain said.

His party colleague Sambit Patra said, “Congress diminishing Nehru’s status. Politics of hatred being promoted by them, not us. If Pt Nehru saw Congress’s behaviour today he would cry saying Congress has restricted me to one party, not for country.”

Patra added that the Cong president & vice president are doing party politics by grabbing the opportunity of Nehruji’s 125th birth anniversary celebration.

“Ironical that Congress derives sadistic pleasure by saying they haven’t invited PM to Nehruji’s program. It is childish,” he added.
