Toronto, Christine Elliott is set to officially kick off her campaign for the leadership of Ontario’s Progressive Conservative party today.
The MPP will be joined by former Ontario premier Bill Davis as she opens her campaign office in Toronto.
Elliott, the widow of former finance minister Jim Flaherty, was first elected in the Whitby-Oshawa riding in a 2006 byelection and is currently the party’s critic for health and longterm care.
She`s going up against caucus mates that include Vic Fedeli, Lisa MacLeod and Monte McNaughton in the race to succeed Tim Hudak.
Hudak resigned as leader after his party’s crushing defeat in the June provincial election.
The leadership vote will be held May 3rd and 7th next year and the results are to be released May 9.
