Canadian man dies in New Mexico after being hit by a vehicle

DEMING, N.M. — Authorities in southwestern New Mexico say an Ottawa man is dead after being struck by a vehicle on a freeway.
New Mexico State Police say 64-year-old Sandor Tarkanyi was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident around 4:30 a.m. Monday.
They say a vehicle driven by Tarkanyi was disabled after striking a concrete barrier at a construction zone on Interstate 10 east of Deming.
Police say Tarkanyi got out of the vehicle and was struck in the roadway by another vehicle, suffering fatal injuries.
The name of the other driver wasn’t released and police didn’t say if that person would be facing any charges.
