Nawanshahr, After Ludhiana and Ferozepur, the ongoing rebellion against the Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa reached Nawanshahr with one former District Congress Committee president Pawan Dewan and six sitting block presidents writing to the party President Ms Sonia Gandhi seeking his immediate removal.
The leaders who have written to the Congress president inlcude ex-DCC president Satbir Singh, Raghbir Singh Billa, Jujhar Singh, Harjit Singh, Tikal Raj Sood, Satish Kumar Rana and Chaman Singh, all sitting block presidents and Rajwinder Singh Lucky, halqa incharge Balachaur, Lait Mohan Pathak, ex- president, Municipal Committee Nawanshehar Milkait Singh Baharowal and Vipin Taneja, both PCC members, Daravjit Singh Punia Gen, Secretary youth congress lok sabha halqa Anandpur Sahib and Tirath Ram president youth congress halqa Banga.
The party leaders condemned Bajwa’s actions of expelling the loyal and long time workers of the party on flimsy grounds. They alleged that Bajwa was trying to create rift within the organisation by targeting all those leaders who wanted to be impartial.
Without mentioning any particular names, they said, there were several senior leaders in Punjab and Bajwa wanted them to sever their ties with everyone else if they wanted to work with him. They said, this was unprecedented and unacceptable as all senior leaders deserved to be taken along and respected.
Appealing the Congress president to remove Bajwa sooner than later, they said, under his leadership the Congress will not only be not able to form government in Punjab, but might be decimated and disintegrated.
