Chandigarh,Local Bodies Minister Mr Anil Joshi has informed that in a bid to give a clean and green look to the cities of Punjab, the Jalandhar cluster under Solid Waste Management would start its operations from November 5, 2014. Under this project, electricity would be generated and fertilizer/manure would be prepared from the garbage collected from homes.
In a press release issued here today, Mr Joshi said that out of eight solid waste management clusters developed in the state, the fourth cluster at Jalandhar would start its operations from November 5, 2014 onwards.
He further said that this project would operate under Public Private Partnership (PPP) and the company representatives would be involved in door to door collection of Garbage in Jalandhar. He said that using state of the art technology, the garbage would be sorted out in such a manner so that it could be reused for different purposes after proper processing.
He said that out of eight clusters, the solid waste management is already going on in Ludhiana, Bathinda and Ferozepur, while Jalandhar cluster would start on November 5, 2014, land has been chosen and tenders floated for Pathankot cluster. He said for finding suitable land for the operations of Mohali cluster, directions have already been issued to concerned departments, while for Patiala and Amritsar, tenders have been floated after a detailed status report.
