’84 anti-Sikh riots : Its beginning, will fight till justice – Sukhbir

* CM and Deputy CM to meet PM and Home Minister
* Bajwa’s criminal connection and protection to criminals ‘very unfortunate’

Chandigarh/Lambi (Sri Muktsar Sahib), President Shiromani Akali Dal and Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today described the sympathetic gesture of NDA government to give Rs. 5 lakh monetary relief to the kin of victims of 1984 anti Sikh riots and asserted that it was a beginning and SAD will fight till the delivery of justice.

Answering to media queries here Mr. Badal along with Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia, Revenue Minister Punjab said that this was a beginning of commitment made by NDA before coming to power and they were very confident that justice would be delivered to Sikhs at all costs. “I and Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal are going to meet Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh on the issue. We will press the Union Government to expedite the legal proceedings so the guilty could put behind the bars by adopting appropriate legal measures.”

On the issue of media reports regarding PPCC President Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa’s proximity with a person involved in criminal activities, Mr. Badal said that it was very unfortunate if he hired gangsters to put away congress workers having resentment against him. He said that this act of PPCC chief has exposed his real face.

When asked about the Rs. 50 hike in MSP, Mr. Badal admitted that it was a very meager. “It should have Rs. 200 for the facilitation of farming community facing high input rates” he added. Mr. Badal said that it should be revised in view of current farming scenario.

Answering to a query that 30th anniversary of Sikh pogrom is falling in next month and what is being done by SAD in this regard, Mr. Badal said tomorrow they will lay a foundation stone of memorial in the memory of 1984 riot victims. He affirmed that the real tribute to the victims of Sikh genocide will be putting architects of anti-Sikh riots behind bars.
