Battery is considered as one of the most important aspect in a smartphone, particularly when the device falls under a premium price bracket. Google’s new Pixel and Pixel XL feature a 2770mAh and 3450mAh battery capacity respectively, and the expectancy is higher.

A Reddit user recently posted a table that reveals a comparison of the battery life of two Nexus smartphones and the new Google Pixel and Pixel XL devices. Nexus 5X and Pixel has almost the same battery ratings on paper, but the latter seems to have a 2.6 per cent bigger battery life than the 5X.

The new Pixel offers a standby time of 456 hours, which is 36 hours higher than what Nexus 5X offered. Talk time on the Pixel is 26 hours, compared to 20 hours on the Nexus 5X. In addition, Internet use on Wi-Fi and LTE is considerably longer on the Pixel, while users can spend 30 per cent more time playing videos and audio on Google’s latest smartphone compared to last year’s Nexus 5X.

Besides the numbers for the comparison between Pixel and Nexus 5X, both Pixel XL and Nexus 6P have the same battery capacity, but standby time is 25.5 per cent higher on the Pixel XL.

Additionally, talk time on the recently-released device is 39.1 per cent higher, while Internet use on Wi-Fi, LTE and video playback are also 40 per cent higher on the Pixel XL. Owners of Google’s latest phone can spend 30 hours more playing audio on their phones, compared to Nexus 6P users.

This impressive performance is all thanks to the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset powering Pixel smartphones. The SoC is said to be twice faster than the previous SD810 used in the Nexus 6P.

Apart from the processors, the Adreno 530 graphics processing unit (GPU) also takes up 40 per cent lower power than the Adreno 430 GPU seen on the Nexus 6P.
