Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, The Punjab Congress President, Mr Partap Singh Bajwa, today strongly condemned what he described as the malicious, motivated and highly mischievous smear campaign against him dictated by ruling party conspirators to malign him and tarnish his image by levelling allegations against him of the so called links with anti-social elements through the Faridkot Senior Superintendent of Police Mr S S Kahlon.
He warned Mr Kahlon against functioning as part of the private militia of the Deputy Chief Minister, Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal, who had stooped this low to level fabricated, concocted and contrived allegations against his political adversaries to discredit them as he wanted to crush every opposition to his government.
“Such unfounded and unsubstantiated allegations have been levelled against me every time the Congress in the state gets into the gear to mobilise people who are fed up with the Badal government. I throw an open challenge to all such forces and will not allow these nasty and wicked people to derail our campaign by levelling such unfounded and baseless charges against me. I will not be cowed down by such personal attacks”, he added.
The PPCC chief challenged the Faridkot SSP to prove this grave allegation against him or be prepared to face the consequences as what he had done was not only immoral and unethical but also illegal as he had tried to tarnish his reputation without any proof.
He asked where was the need for him to bring in anti-social people during interaction of the party vice-president, Mr Rahul Gandhi, with the party men at every level in the Punjab Congress Bhavan. It was shocking that the SSP was unaware of even the basic drill during the visit of SPG protectee.
He said the SSP had crossed all limits by saying that these antisocial elements arrested by the Faridkot Police had confessed that they had entered the Punjab Congress Bhavan on assignment from Mr Bajwa. He said he pitied Mr Kahlon as he had not only exposed himself in the process but also given indications enough as to the forces behind this vilification campaign. He made it clear this smear campaign would be confronted at every level.
