Jammu: Ahead of the announcement of notification for the first phase of Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the state unit of the Congress on Monday said it will announce its candidates soon.
Setting poll process in motion, notification for the first phase of Assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir will be issued tomorrow.
The Congress which is in hectic parleys to finalise the candidates said the names will be announced within a couple of days.
“The candidates would be announced within a couple of days. We are working on it”, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Professor Saifuddin Soz told a news agency here.
The leader, however, refused to comment on whether the party will enter into an alliance.
The Election Commission on Saturday decided to go ahead with holding Assembly polls in flood-devastated Jammu and Kashmir and announced a five-phased schedule between November 23 and December 20.
Ruling coalition partners of Congress and National Conference fought Lok Sabha elections this year in alliance and lost all the six seats.
The BJP bagged three seats of Jammu, Udhampur and Ladakh Parliamentary constituencies and PDP bagged Srinagar, Ananatnag and Baramulla LS seats in Kahsmir.
