One person is currently in custody following reports that a passenger traveling on a GO bus late Thursday afternoon was armed with a gun, York Regional Police have confirmed.
According to Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins, the bus left from Yorkdale, travelled north and was heading to Newmarket via Major MacKenzie Drive. There were approximately two dozen people on the bus at the time, she said.
Toronto police Const. David Hopkinson said officers received a call on the matter shortly before 5 p.m.
It was not immediately clear where the male boarded the bus, or where he got off.
York Regional Police confirmed that a suspect was in custody at around 5:30 p.m. They were not immediately able to confirm whether the male had a weapon or where he was arrested.
No injuries have been reported.
Police continue to investigate.
