Punjab all set to launch Bal Swachhta mission on novermber 14

Chandigarh,  Basking in the glory of successful conduction of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’, the state of Punjab is now all set to launch ‘Bal Swachhta Mission’ form November 14th. This week long campaign would be launched on November 14th on the occasion of children’s day (Bal Divas). The aim of this campaign is to motivate children in keeping themselves, their homes, Schools and surrounding clean.

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state government said that this Bal Swachhta Mission is the next phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) launched by the Prime Minister on October 2nd, 2014. He said that like SBM this Bal Swachhta Mission would be a nationwide sanitation initiative focussing mainly on children. He said that during this week long sanitation drive children would be sensitized and involved in different aspects of hygiene and sate sanitation. He said that there would be six main themes for the Bal Swachhta Mission; Clean School and Anganwadis, Clean surroundings (Playgrounds etc), Clean Self (Personal Hygiene/ Child Healh), Clean Food, Clean Drinking Water and Clean Toilets. The spokesman said that children would also be administered pledge to keep themselves and their surround clean.

The spokesperson further said that during this week long campaign one of the themes would be focussed across the state each day. Activities connected to the theme would be organised on that particular day. He said that all relevant departments specially Department of School Education, Department of Women and Child Development, Department of Rural Development and Panchyats have been instructed to ensure that these activities are organised in every School an Anganwadi of the state. He said that this week long campaign would culminate on the World Toilet day on 19thNovember 2014, thus giving the opportunity of spreading the message of ending open defecation.

The spokesperson said that instruction to all the district authorities have also been issued to mobilise all their resources to involve all children into this cleanliness drive. He said that in the instruction issued it has been pointed out that Children can play a very important role in achieving Swachh Bharat Mission by 2019. Children if motivated can contribute immensely towards improving the sanitation situation in the state but also by becoming ambassadors of cleanliness in their homes and communities.
