CHENNAI: The women voters in Tamil Nadu continue to outnumber men in Tamil Nadu as the draft electoral rolls are scheduled to be released tomorrow (October 15). Further, the total number of voters which stood at 5,50,42,876 till the Lok Sabha elections are over, has come down to 5,48,71,374 following the deletion of 2,36,901 voters on various reasons – deaths, shifting of residences, duplicate entry etc.,
Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Kumar said as on date, the total number women voters stood at 2,74,47,173 while the number of men votes stood at 2,74,21,074. A total of 3,127 transgenders have enrolled themselves as voters.
The CEO said special campaigns would be conducted on October 26 and November 2 (both Sundays) at designated locations (polling stations). In Tuticorin, instead of November 2, the campaign would be held on November 1. Forms for inclusion/deletion/modification/transposition of entries in the electoral rolls would be available at the designated locations. Filled in forms could be submitted there.
The CEO further said online registration would be encouraged this time as it would prevent complaints about errors in the names, addresses etc., in future. Besides, misplacement of photographs could also be avoided. Apart from that, the application forms cannot go missing as it is online.
