Protest against violation of freedom of expression by youth and Discrimination against Capt. Amarinder Singh

CHANDIGARH: Today the students and various youth leaders staged a protest at Canadian Consulate at sector 17 Chandigarh. The basic demand was that injustice should not be done on the issue of Public Meetings to be held by Capt Amarinder Singh.
The students and youngsters were shocked to hear that one of the largest democracy of the world i.e. Canada denied Capt. Amarinder Singh ( deputy leader of Parliament, India) to hold Public meetings in Canada with his fellow Punjabis .
Protesters raised slogan against Govt of India who should have taken up the issue and should have assured Canada of the credentials of deputy leader of Lok sabha. They also urged Canadian govt to wake up and see the reality and not be taken hostage by a group of extremist who have been banned by indian govt .

After raising of slogans and protest four of them they were taken inside the Consulate to meet the higher officials.They handed over memorandum, Brinder Singh Dhillon ( President , Lok Sabha Youth Congress, Anandpur Sahib) along with Avjinder singh kala ( president Fategarh sahib Lok sabha) , Jeewanjot chahal president NSUI , Hardeep Lally chairman nsui ,explained the whole case to the Consulate. It must be mentioned for the first time they had allowed any Protestants for submission of memorandum. They were given assurance by the staff that matter will be taken up in Ottawa and in delhi as soon as possible. No time limit was given but assurance was given that by Friday they will revert back.It was also specifically told to the consulate that
If they are acting on behalf of citizens who have taken political asylum and have been declared extremist in India they should know terrorism and terrorist have no boundaries”.
This matter is very serious and raises many question on the credibility of Canadian Govt. which is known to be liberal but acting as opposite .Request was made not to politicise the issue and let Capt. Amarinder Singh hold the meeting for the larger interest of society. We shall be very thankful to you.
