Pungrain leads in procurement of Paddy

Chandigarh,  Maintaining its consistent lead during the ongoing paddy procurement operations in Punjab, the PUNGRAIN has procured the maximum 1, 06,853 tonnes paddy in the mandis of state whereas Taran Tarn district has procured maximum 57026 tonnes paddy among the districts of Punjab out of total 4, 74,028 tonne paddy procured across the state till October 9, 2014.

Jalandhar and Faridkot procured 51,607 and 47,827 tonnes of paddy respectively and secured 2nd and 3rd positions in district wise paddy procurement.

Stating this here today a spokesperson of the government said that 4,74,028 tonnes of paddy was procured till October 9 as against the state government’s total target of 140 lakh tonnes.

Adding further, the spokesperson said that Punjab, Government agencies procured 3, 89,847 tonnes (82.2%) of paddy till date whereas private traders procured 84,181 tonnes (17.8%) of paddy. Till last evening, PUNGRAIN procured 1, 06,853 tonnes (27.4%), MARKFED procured 1,01,351 tonnes (26.0%) whereas PUNSUP had procured 84,373 tonnes (21.6%) PSWC procured 32,564 tonnes (8.4%) whereas PAFC procured 41,532 tonnes (10.7%) of paddy. The Central Government agency FCI could procure 23,174 tonnes (5.9%).
