Chandigarh, March 12: The former Punjab Congress president Mr Partap Singh Bajwa today lambasted the Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal for having failed to check the continuing incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib that was a reflection of the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
He expressed shock over the burning of two Birs of Guru Granth Sahib and 10 Gutkas in Ramdiwal Muslamana village under Mattewal police station in Amritsar district. He said although the villagers had nabbed three persons in this regards, what was the cause of major worry was the continuation of such incidents.
Mr Bajwa said what encourage such elements in carrying out their nefarious designs was the failure of the state government to make any progress in the very first case reported from from Bargari village after the theft of Guru Granth Sahib from nearby Burj Jawaharsinghwala village on June 1. That Bir was still to be traced. The case was later handed over to the CBI.
He expressed the apprehension these were not the cases in isolation buit part of some deeper design to create trouble in this sensitive state and called upon the people to maintain peace and communal harmony.
