Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday lambasted Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh for his claim of being champion to the cause of Punjab river waters whereas he was actually the prime architect and largely responsible for its loot.
AAP, Senior leader and spokesman Himmat Singh Shergill said that SYL was the biggest conspiracy to loot Punjab waters and Indira Gandhi, Darbara Singh and Capt. Amarinder were the partners in crime in this conspiracy.
Shergill revealed that most of the construction of SYL inside the Punjab territory was completed during the Akali Dal Government led by Surjit Singh Barnala in which Capt. Amarinder Singh was the state Agriculture minister. So while being agricultural minister of Punjab Capt Amarinder completely ignored the interest of Punjab on river waters and it was during his tenure as agricultural minister when the construction work of the SYL was in full swing.
Shergill said that when Indira Gandhi laid the foundation stone of SYL on April 8 in 1982 at Kapoori village in District Patiala, Capt. Amarinder, who was Congress’ Member Parliament from Patiala, was standing shoulder to shoulder with her during the entire ceremony.
Shergill further said that in 2004 when Punjab Termination of Agreement Act was passed by all parties of Punjab in state assembly it was UPA Government with Sonia Gandhi as UPA chairperson and Dr. Manmohan Singh as Prime Minister which got the matter sent for reference to Supreme Court.
However despite the aforesaid development Capt Amarinder Singh continued to stay put as Punjab Chief Minister in 2004 even after the matter was sent for reference to Supreme Court by UPA Government. And now same Capt. Amarinder Singh in 2016 continues to enjoy close confidence of Sonia Gandhi and was even rewarded for his loyalty with the post of Punjab Congress chief and being projected as next chief minister of Punjab.
Shergill further said that now in Supreme Court, Modi Government is trying its best that Punjab waters be given to Haryana and despite being a prima facie conspiracy of Modi Government to loot waters of Punjab, Badal’s Akali Dal is still continuing its alliance with BJP both in centre and state.
Shergill said Amarinder neither resigned as MP Patiala when foundation of SYL was laid by Indira Gandhi nor resigned as Agriculture Minister when substantial construction of SYL was done in Punjab and kept sitting in the cabinet as minister nor resigned as Punjab Chief Minister after Congress Government of Centre got the matter sent for reference to Supreme Court.
