Chandigarh, All Congress MLAs were on Thursday suspended from the Punjab Assembly for a day after they trooped into the Well of the House amidst pandemonium over the official resolution moved by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal against sharing of river waters.
Earlier, Congress MLAs staged a walkout in the Vidhan Sabha during Zero Hour over the brutal murder of Dalit youth Bhim Tank in Abohar. Tank was allegedly killed by liquor baron Shiv Lal Doda’s henchmen at his farmhouse.
Speaking in the House during Zero Hour, former Punjab Congress Legislature Party Leader Sunil Jakhar alleged that efforts were on to save Doda and he apprehended that his name would be removed from the challan, which would be submitted to the court on March 12.
The Congress legislators, however, were back inside the Assembly within a few minutes after staging a symbolic walkout over the killing.
Bhim Tank used to work for Shiv Lal, a liquor baron who allegedly started nursing a grudge against the victim after he gave up his job. Bhim and his aide Gurjant Singh, alias Janta, were allegedly attacked by Doda’s henchmen at his farmhouse in Abohar.
