Chandigarh, February 29: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today asked the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to spell out his stand on the water sharing with Haryana in view of the government of India, of which Badal’s Akali Dal is a constituent party, favouring Haryana in the Supreme Court of India much against the interests of Punjab.

The PCC president asked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to also clarify his stand on the matter since of late he has been indulging in too much of breast beating for Punjab farmers, who are going to be badly hit if the Supreme Court accepts government of India’s contention favouring Haryana.

Lashing out at the Chief Minister Badal for not taking up the matter with the centre which has resulted in its adverse stand against Punjab, Capt Amarinder said, history will never forgive him (Badal) for keeping quiet when it came to taking a stand for Punjab over and above his personal and family interests.

He pointed out how he had enacted the Water Sharing Agreements Abrogation Act to save Punjab waters. “Thanks to Mr Badal’s criminal negligence all our efforts are at the risk of getting washed away as he (Badal) failed to plead and put up a strong case with the centre and the apex court on the matter”, the former Chief Minister said.
