Shiromani Akali Dal terms Kejriwal’s Punjab visit as Drama Politics

MAHESH-INDER-SINGH-GREWAL

Chandigarh, February 26 : Accusing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of indulging in “Drama politics”, Shiromani Akali Dal today criticised him for his recent visit to Punjab, saying the AAP leader has time to visit Punjab to score political points for 2017 assembly elections, but neither has any concern for the people of his native state Haryana nor cared for water shortage faced by Delhians during agitation in his home state.

In a statement issued here, Mr. Maheshinder Singh Grewal, Advisor to Chief Minister and party General Secretary said, “Party strongly condemn the Drama Politics of Kejriwal and his selective offering of sympathy. He chose to visit Punjab at a time when people of his native state Haryana are dying in agitations and properties of crores destroyed. This agitation has created serious water shortage in Delhi also but instead of doing something for people of his state or taking some steps to ensure that people of his governed state should not face water shortage in future Delhi CM is enjoying ‘Political Holidays’ in Punjab”.

Mr. Grewal said that Kejriwal’s lust for power was so evident that when every citizen of the country is worried about violence occurred in Haryana and expressing solidarity with the victims of this violence, Delhi CM did not bothered to visit his native state. He said that Kejriwal’s has so much hunger for power that in this case he even failed in doing ‘Event Management Politics’ he was known for. He said that a person who didn’t care for his home state or a state being governed by him, how he would ever have any concern for Punjab?

Mr. Grewal said that party always welcome a good opposition but a leader like Kejriwal, who used emotions of people to meet his petty political interest is a real threat to democratic values. He said that party always welcome gestures like offering help to victims of natural calamity or terrorists attack of a state by governments of others state but at the same time condemn selective treatment. He questioned Delhi CM that after Pathankot attack why he failed to come at the help of Gursewak Singh’s family living in Ambala, whereas, he reached the families of Subedar Major Fateh Singh and Havildar Kulwant Singh in Punjab to give cheque of Rs. 2 Lakh each?

Mr. Grewal said that Peolple of Delhi were fed up of dual congress rule in Delhi and in the country and to bring a change they followed a drive initiated by Anna Hazare which later hijacked by Kejriwal. “Even during parliamentary elections in Punjab, AAP won only seats which were having congress hold earlier. Now, he is exposed and people of Punjab are wise enough to write his reverse story”, he added,
