Chandigarh, A Seminar on KNOW THE ARMED FORCES was conducted at Maharaja Ranjit Armed Foces Preparatory Institute(AFPI) Sector 77 Mohali on 08 Oct 14. In addition to cadets of the AFPI students from Sanik School Kunjpura, Sainik School Kapurthala and YPS Mohali attended the function.
The function opened up with the Chief Guest Brig MG Sekaran SM, Group Commander NCC addressing the audience on the army way of life. 08 Oct also being the 82 Air Force Day, Wing Commander JS Jeji was given the honour to educate the young minds on a career in the Air Force and provided them an insight into the types of aircrafts and various branches of the Air Force. Thereafter Lt Commander Mannu Virk from the Indian Navy highlighted the various aspects of the Indian Navy and career prospects in the navy. The third presentation on the Indian Army was covered by Maj Gen BS Grewal, VSM (Retd), Director AFPI. He highlighted the combat arms, the combat support arms and the role of services available in the Indian army. He elaborated on the various wars fought by the Indian Army and how it stood “the test of time, keeping up “Naam, Namak and Nishaan”. He finally spoke about the synergised efforts between all the three services required to quell and challenge from any external aggression in future.
The seminar was a resounding success and a great motivation for the younger generation of students.
